The choir of the Potsdam music school „Johann Sebastian Bach" was founded in 1990 by Marion Kuchenbecker who is stil conducting the choir today. The ensemble consists of about 60 members.

In addition to an a-cappella repertoire from the Renaissance up to the 19th century and selected works of the 20th century the choir is also addicted preparing choir-symphonic works. The partnership with the symphonic orchestra of young people of the music school allowed to perform among others works of G.F. Haendel, J.S. Bach, J. Haydn, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, A. Dvorak, C. Franck, G. Puccini and Ch. Gounod in various concerts.

Many concerts in Potsdam, its surrounding area, Rostock, Pantlitz, Buckow etc. are demonstrating the artistic development of the choir. Concerts are regularly given in the Nikolaisaal Potsdam which is the concert and event house of the city as well as in the big churches and within the framework of the music festival Potsdam Sanssouci.

In the course of concert tours the choir was in different cities of Brandenburg, in Bonn, in Muelheim a.d.R. and to two successful journeys to Hungary.

Summer 2002 the choir gave concerts in the framework of the art night in Rostock and in the cathedral of Bad Doberan. Many times the choir was guest during the summer music of Blankensee and in the abbey Lehnin.

The varied program of a-cappella pieces involve clerical as well as worldly works for choirs as i.e. form H. Schuetz, A Scarlatti, O. di Lasso, H.L. Hassler, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, E. Grieg, S. Rachmaninow, H. Distler, R. Thompson as well as spirituals.

In spite of the intensely rehearsal work including two weekends per year in and out of Potsdam we also like to celebrate one and the other occasion.
